Edge to Edge

Semi-Custom

Binding

A continuous quilting pattern that repeats across the entire quilt surface, providing beautiful texture and consistent coverage at an economical price point.

Combines different quilting motifs in various sections of the quilt, such as custom designs in borders with complementary patterns in the body, for a more personalized finish.

The final fabric border applied around the quilt's perimeter with mitered corners and hand-finished backing attachment to create clean, durable edges.

Pick the Perfect Pattern

With over 800+ Pantographs to choose from, you're sure to find the best one for your project! We are always game for adding new designs to our library, so if there is a certain design out in the internet you’d really like and we don’t already have, give us a link or a design name and we will try to purchase it.

How big does my backing need to be?

We require that backing be at least four (4”) inches larger on all sides of the quilt top. Add 4 inches to each side of the top measurements, or in other words, a total of 8 inches to the width and 8 inches to the length of your quilt top. For example if your quilt top is 60”X70” please ensure that your backing is at least 68”X78”. If your backing is NOT the right size, we may be able to make it work for an additional fee, or it may not be quiltable on the longarm at all.

Can I use minky or cuddle backing?

Is there anything more comfy than a minky backing? We LOVE how soft and cuddly minky and cuddle backs are, they’re irresistible. To make minky and cuddle work, we need 5" inches on all sides (10” inches total for both width and length, see above). 1” seams and horizontal please!

What are my thread options?

We currently offer a large assortment of Superior Omni thread color choices. Omni is a strong, bright, poly-wrapped, poly core thread that is extremely durable and works wonderfully on the longarm! It comes in 172 colors and we sometimes are just plain googly-eyed when looking at our thread racks! We also carry over 100 variegated thread color combos–because sometimes one thread color just isn’t enough! We love to help match colors and know that the right thread can really tie together the many elements of your piece and make your quilt pop!

Do you do custom quilting?

Yes and no. I don’t do all-over custom quilting–YET!!! Practice makes perfect and I’m still practicing, so stay tuned! In addition to all-over computerized (commonly referred to as Edge2Edge) quilting, I do offer semi-custom computerized work that can bring your quilt up to next level awesomeness!. This option includes borders, corners or special blocks or areas with a different pattern than the chosen overall edge2edge design. Let’s meet and design your quilting together and enhance your pieced work!

What machine do you use?

Here at Harvest Moon Quilting Co. we are pleased to be the home of Birdie the Bernina Longarm. She’s 12 feet long and 4 feet wide–just saying, she’s a BIG girl! She can handle up to a 110” quilt top and makes beautiful stitches. She’s currently equipped with nearly 800 patterns and loves to collect new ones!

How do I calculate dimensions

To calculate square inches:
Measure the quilt top length and width. Multiply length by width. Example: 70W x 80L = 5600 Sq inches

To calculate linear inches for binding measurement:
Measure quilt top width & length. Add width + length, multiply by 2. Example: 50W + 60L = 110 x 2= 220 Linear Inches

What designs are there to choose from?

Well, I’m glad you asked!! We have nearly 800 designs in our library which include edge2edge, corners, borders, and embellishments! When you drop off your quilt top we can work together to find a design(s) in our collection you like and that will complement your quilt!

Prepping Your Quilt for Longarm Quilting Service

For the best results on the longarm, please follow these essentials in preparing your quilt top and backing for quilting:

  • Backing and batting (if provided by customer) should be 8” larger in total width and total length than the quilt top. This means at least an extra 4” around all sides. The extra fabric will be returned to you, but it’s needed to facilitate loading onto the machine.
  • The top and backing should be clean, trimmed, pressed and squared up, ready to load onto the machine. Please double check your backing is squared up–so important!
  • If the edge of your top is pieced, please baste/stay stitch around it as that helps keep the quilt top square and from unraveling while stretched onto the machine.
  • If you are piecing your backing and have the option to do so, please run the seam(s) horizontally. That works better on the machine.
